Food For Picnics And Outdoor Cooking Fifties Style

Recipes from an article published in the Swedish women’s magazine "Husmoderen", No 22 – 1959

What people used to do on the week end around here back in the fifties was to pack the car and go for a spin around the country side. We’d bring bulging picnic baskets, camping chairs and tables, blankets, cooking gear, you know, the lot. Then we’d find a nice quiet spot, preferably by water of some kind, a lake, a river or even a small stream. Then we’d empty the car and have our self a really nice time. Some of my fondest childhood memories are from just trips like these –Ted

The recipe page feature a lot of recipes suited for picnics and outdoor cooking. Why not take a trip down memory lane and do like they did in the fifties. find a nice spot and cook your dinner outdoors .

Since I am just about as interested in retro and vintage DIY projects as I am in retro and vintage recipes and food, kitchen and food oriented DIY projects like this nifty recipe file system are going to turn up here on RecipeReminiscing from time to time. I hope you’ll enjoy these as much as the recipes – Ted

NB! At the bottom of the plan page you’ll find a link where you can download a pdf version of the plans. These are larger and easier to read than the jpg. You can also find the pdf file in the BOX widget in the right column.
