Lutefisk as traditionally served in Norway from godfisk.no
Lutefisk served with stewed peas, crisp bacon and potatoes is Norwegian tradition at its best. Some want brown cheese, golden syrup or mustard as well, the lutefisk has many friends.

Lutefisk is an aquired taste I guess 😉

I don’t know, I haven’t aquired it. I eat it when served it, but I can’t say I like it 😉

I have never aquired it either. I tried it again last year with a very strong intention to like it, but I didn’t even manage to finish a very small serving. I secretly threw it away.

You should gradually get used to the fish. Put a gob of mashed potatoes in a lefse, then add a small portion of lutefisk and melted butter. Wrap it up and eat it like a burrito.

Absolutely not a bad idea 🙂 Should one be brave enough to try ‘rakefisk’ which is an even scarier kind of fish dish from Norway one should do the same. A little ‘rakefisk’, a little chopped cold potatoes, a little chopped pickled beets, a little chopped onion and a little sour and wrap it all in a lefse. It is the way we eat it in my family.
