Homemade Butter

161_hjemmelaget smoer_thumb[5]
1,2 pt. cream
about ½ teaspoon salt

Use a hand mixer and whip the cream. Continue until you can clearly see that the cream separates. The solid is butter, the liquid is called “buttermilk”

[2] Use a spatula and take everything out of the bowl. The buttermilk can be frozen. It makes nice dough liquid for baking bread.

[3] Form the butter into a ball with your hands.

[4] Put the butter in a large bowl with cold water and knead it with your hands to get out all the buttermilk. Change the water 3-4 times and knead the butter well between each time.

[5] Knead salt to taste into the butter.

[6] Wrap the butter into waxed paper and store it in the refrigerator.
