Millet porridge is a flavorful porridge suitable for both breakfast and and an evening meal. The porridge can be cooked with whole grain or millet flakes.
1 liter [2,1 pt] milk
4 dl [0,8 pt] millet flakes
1 teaspoon salt
4 teaspoons butter
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon sugar
Bring the milk to a boil and sprinkle in the millet flakes. Let it boil, stirring constantly for about 10 minutes. Season with salt.
[I] If you use whole millet, use 2,5 dl / 0,5 pt for 4 servings. Rinse it first with cold water and then boil it in 4 dl / 0,8 pt of water. Cook it until all the water is absorbed by the grains. Add 1 liter / 2,1 pt of milk and boil the porridge for a further 50 minutes over medium heat. Add salt to taste.
[II] Server the millet porridge with a dollop of butter in the middel of the bowl and drizzle with cinnamon and sugar.
