500 g [1,1 lb] potatoes
1 sprig of fresh or ¼ tsp of dried thyme
½ dl [0,1 pt] sunflower oil or other neutral oil
100 g [3,5 oz] butter
Salt and freshly ground pepper
1-2 dl [0,2-0,4 pt] chicken stock or water
This is what you do
 Peel and chop potatoes and onions into 1/2 cm / 1/5 in. thick slices. Use a large warm frying pan, add oil and fry onions and potatoes on high heat until everything begins to get color. Add the butter and fry until the potatoes and onions become golden brown.
 This should be done in two rounds to ensure a good color on onions and potatoes. This is precisely what gives the lovely taste in the end. Season with thyme, salt and pepper.
 Put it all in an oven proof mould and press it well together. Pour in the stock or water. Place the mould in the middle of a preheated oven at 200˚C / 390˚ F and cook for 30 minutes.
