Cut the meat into serving pieces.
 Peel the potatoes and carrots and cut them into large cubes.
 Cut the cabbage in large wedges.
 Put meat, potatoes, carrots and cabbage layered in a saucepan with salt and pepper between layers.
 Pour in the water.
 Let the dish simmer under lid until everything is tender and the potatoes begin to mash up, ca. 1 1/2 -2 hours.
Server with flatbread or wholemeal rolls.
