September Casserole

An autumn recipe found in “Den Store Mini Kokeboken”

Norwegian Information Office for MeatSeptember Casserole

Casseroles like this is quite typical for Norwegian workday dinners. Quick, simple, filling and done in one pan. Particularly delicious with the autumns fresh vegetables.

Ingredients
About 500 g of stew meat
2 onions
butter
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 tsp pepper
1 teaspoon of paprika powder
1/2 in bouillon or broth
1/2 celery
2 carrots
3 potatoes
1 leek
250 g green beans
3 tomatoes

Approach

[1] Cut the meat into cubes and brown together with coarse chopped onion.

[2] Sprinkle with salt and spices and add bouillon/broth.

[3] Bring to a boil and let zimmer for about 30 min.

[4] Clean and cut all vegetables into cubes or slices.

[5] Dip the tomatoes into boiling water and skin them.

[6] Add celery potatoes, carrots and potatoes to the pot.

[7] Bring to a boil and and cook for another 15 minutes.

[8] Add leek, beans and tomatoes and let the dish zimmer for 5 min.
