How to make them
Beat butter, icing sugar, cocoa and vanilla bright and airy. Mix in oatmeal, cake crumbs and jam. Taste the mixture with rum essence. Roll the mass out in two sausages 1/2 – 3/4 inch in diameter (use a plastic film for help). Let the sausages rest in refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
Colouring the marzipan with green food colouring. Chop the chocolate and melt it over hot water.
Roll the marzipan out into an oblong loaf that is slightly longer than the sausages. Trim the edges and cut the marzipan in half lengthwise. Place a sausage on each marzipan length and roll marzipan tightly around the sausages. Cut the rolls in regular oblong pieces.
Cover a small tray with plastic film or greaseproof paper. Dip the ends of the rolls in melted chocolate and let them rest on the tray as you work your way through all, then store them in the refrigerator. Undo the rollers gently from the plastic film / baking paper before serving.
The recipe yields about 20 pcs.
