Heat utensil and fat. Cut veal steak into pieces about 2″ by 3″. On each place one-half slice of bacon, one slice onion, salt and pepper. Roll and pierce with a toothpick to keep shape.
Brown birds in hot fat. Place cauliflower and potatoes covered with hot water in a saucepan. Add a lid, reduce heat, and cook for 1 hour. Add butter and seasoning to the cauliflower before serving. Mash the potatoes.
