Norwegian Cognac Cookies

Having a hard time finding out what to give to someone for Christmas? Why not give away an edible gift? Bake these cookies and put them in a nice box and decorate with pretty red silk ribbon. Nice to give and nice to get!

The dough makes about 50 cookies

12 dl [2,4 pt] flour
4 dl [0,8 pt] sugar
500 g [1,1 lb] butter
1 egg
1 tablespoon of cognac


[1] Mix flour, sugar, butter cut into in small cubes and the egg into a smooth dough either by hand or kitchen machine. Mix in the cognac towards the end.

[2] Roll the dough into lengths the thickness of your thumb. Press the lengths a little down and cut them into 1.5 cm / 3/5 inch long cookies.

[3] Bake the cookies in the middle of the oven at 175° C / 354° F for about 10 minutes.
